Ego Is the Enemy of Good Leadership
Ego is the enemy of good leadership according to many experts. To be successful, a leader needs to put themselves in the shoes of their subordinates and see things from their perspective. This is difficult if the leader is constantly focused on themselves.
Self-absorption can lead to poor communication and decision-making, arrogance, and false sense of self-worth. This can prevent subordinates from sharing their ideas
If a leader is ego-driven, they may be less likely to delegate tasks or to let their subordinates take charge. This can lead to bottlenecks and a lack of progress.
There are many ways to overcome egoism and self-absorption in leaders. One approach is to develop empathy for the people under your care. You should also admit when you are wrong and apologize.
