Before heading off to college, every student should do some things to prepare themselves. Here are five things to keep in mind:
1. Get organized.
It’s important to have a plan and be organized so you can easily access what you need when you need it. This includes making a study schedule, setting up folders and storage for your belongings, and creating a list of classes you must take to prepare for the fall semester.
2. Make sure you have a summer job.
Many students don’t have summer jobs because they think it’s unnecessary, but having a job during the summer can help you save money and learn what you need to do to find a job after college.
3. Get a head start on your classes.
If you can start taking classes in the summer, that will give you a head start on the fall semester. However, don’t overload yourself; take the classes that will help you prepare for college.
4. Get a summer internship.
Many colleges require students to have at least one summer internship to show they’re prepared for college. This can allow you to learn about a career field and see if it fits you.
5. Get involved in extracurricular activities.
Many students don’t get involved in extracurricular activities because they think they don’t have time, but doing so can help you make friends, learn new skills, and build your resume.
