Isaac Newton was a genius scientist and mathematician who is renowned for his contributions to the field of physics. He made a lot of discoveries that shaped the world of science for years to come. In this article, we will be discussing some interesting facts about Isaac Newton that every kid should know.
1. Childhood and Early Life:
Isaac Newton was born on January 4, 1643, in Woolsthorpe, England. His father, a farmer, died three months before he was born, and he was raised by his mother. Newton was a bright child, and he excelled in his studies, which led him to study at Cambridge University.
2. Discovery of Gravity:
Isaac Newton is most famously known for discovering the law of gravity. It is said that one day, while sitting under an apple tree, an apple fell on his head, and he started wondering why it fell downwards and not upwards. This led him to conduct experiments, and he came up with the law of universal gravitation.
3. Laws of Motion:
Isaac Newton is also credited with discovering the three basic laws of motion, which describe how objects move. The first law states that an object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless acted upon by an external force. The second law describes how the force applied to an object affects its motion. The third law states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
4. Optical Science:
Isaac Newton was also interested in the science of optics. He discovered that white light is a mixture of all the colors in the rainbow, and he invented the first reflecting telescope, which allowed him to observe objects in space that were previously invisible.
5. Knighthood:
Isaac Newton was highly respected in his field and was eventually knighted by Queen Anne of England in 1705. He went on to become the president of the Royal Society, a highly prestigious honor.
